A-B-C Definitions
  • Antecedent: The events, action, or circumstances that occur immediately before a behavior.
  • Behavior: The specific action observed; must be described in clear, observable, and measurable terms.
  • Consequence: The action or response that follows the behavior immediately.
  • Duration: The total amount of time that a single instance of the behavior lasts (e.g., minutes/seconds).
  • Frequency: The number of times the specific behavior occurs during the observation period.
